If you’re traveling abroad for the first time, add AT&T International Day Pass by following these instructions:

Step 1: Sign in to your account

Step 2: Navigate to My wireless at www.att.com/acctmgmt/mywireless

Step 3: Select Explore Other Add-Ons

Step 4: Select Travel Outside the U.S.

Step 5: Select Add to Device

It’s important to know you’ll only be charged for the days you use.

Once you’ve added IDP to your account, it will remain dormant until you travel again. You won’t need to add it again.

How do I make incoming and outgoing calls once I arrive abroad?

When you have International Day Pass and turn on your phone abroad, it will automatically find a network. When the local provider’s name or number appears on your screen, your phone’s ready for use.

To call or send a message back to the U.S., dial + followed by 1, then the area code and number.

To call or send a text to another country, dial + followed by the country code and local number.

With most devices, the + sign will appear if you press and hold the 0 key.

If you have any questions while roaming outside the U.S., call AT&T at 314.925.6925. You can call from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. CT every day, and the call is free from your AT&T cell phone.

Smartphones and tablets:

Confirm Cellular Data Roaming is enabled in your device settings.
If that doesn't work, then power down your device and power back on.

PC cards: Remove the card, reboot the computer and then reinsert the card.

How am I charged for talk, text, and data while traveling abroad?

You are charged based on the international roaming package on your account. If you have not added a package, pay-per-use rates will apply. International roaming rates apply for calls made and received. International roaming rates apply for messages sent, but your domestic messaging rate applies to messages received while outside the U.S.

When receiving standard voicemail messages: Standard voicemail messages received when roaming outside of the U.S. are charged at international roaming calling rates, based on the international roaming feature on your account, or if you have not selected a feature, pay-per-use rates will apply.

When receiving Visual Voicemail messages: Visual Voicemail messages received when roaming outside of the U.S. are charged at international roaming data rates, based on the international roaming feature on your account, or, if you have not selected a feature, pay-per-use rates will apply.

How can AT&T customers roam internationally at LTE speeds?

Accepted Answer

There are two requirements:

An LTE network must be commercially available to AT&T customers roaming in the visited country.
Your device must be LTE-capable and compatible with the frequency (band) over which LTE is deployed on the foreign network. If LTE is not available or your LTE device does not support the LTE frequency band(s) required, you will automatically attach to a network with the next fastest data speed, typically 3G.

• AT&T customers must have a domestic rate plan that allows 5G access and an international roaming feature added to their line. Sign in to find out if your plan has 5G access and if you already have an international roaming feature.
• International 5G coverage is limited to select 5G devices. A 5G capable device that is enabled for 5G band n66 in Canada and band n78 in all other countries is required. Please check your wireless technology specifications to see if your device is capable.
• Be in a country with international 5G roaming commercially available to AT&T customers.

• If you do not have an international feature on your line of service, international pay-per-use rates will apply when you talk, text, or use data.
• International talk, text, and 5G data access is included in AT&T Passport, AT&T International Day Pass, or similar plans for international travel at no additional charge. Note, you must still have an underlying domestic plan with 5G access.
