How to return or exchange a device

Just a few things before you get started

Remove personal info and security features
Clear your personal data from your device and disable all security features like Find My iPhone. If you don’t, we may have to charge you the full cost of your device.

Go to Device Support or Apple Support: What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to learn how to:
  • Back up your device.
  • Disable security features like Find My iPhone.
  • Reset the device to factory settings to permanently erase all personal data.
  • Remove your SIM and/or memory card.

Return a device you didn't buy from AT&T
If you didn’t buy your device directly from us, follow that retailer’s return policy. The AT&T Return Policy doesn’t cover devices bought from authorized dealers or agents. It also doesn’t cover outlet stores and national retail stores, like Best Buy and Wal-Mart. Contact the store where you bought the device for more details.

Returning or exchanging a device

Exchange device
To exchange a device, you'll have to visit an AT&T company-owned store. This doesn’t include authorized retailers.

Return device
To make a return, you can visit an AT&T company-owned store or ship it back to us with the prepaid return shipping label. Make sure to include all original packaging and components like batteries, chargers, and manuals.

For online orders, the restocking fees for returns made within the 14-day return period are:
  • Up to $55 for devices
  • 10% of the purchase price for accessories $100 and over
