Will my phone work in Mexico like it does in the U.S.?

Yes. Your wireless plan is subject to the same data rules in Mexico as it is in the U.S., although network speeds can be slower outside of the U.S. (as low as 2G).

Can I call Mexico at no extra cost from the U.S. on my AT&T plan?

Calling Mexico from your AT&T phone does not add any costs to your monthly plan. You can call Mexico and Canada from the U.S. without paying long-distance fees.

What happens if I use my AT&T phone more in Mexico than in the U.S.?

Nothing! Other carriers have a 50/50 rule that controls how much time you can spend on your phone in either country. AT&T doesn’t.

Do I need to have two separate phones—one phone for the U.S., and another phone for when I’m in Mexico?

No way! That would be inconvenient. You can use the same phone and AT&T wireless plan in both Mexico and the U.S.

Can I use my AT&T Prepaid® plan in Mexico? Will it cost more?

It depends on your plan. Prepaid plans that cost $50 or more per month include unlimited talk/text in Mexico and Canada. Plans that cost $65 or more per month also include unlimited data. Plans that cost less than $50/mo. include pay-per-use options for calling and texting outside of the U.S.

What happens if I use more than 22GB of data in Mexico/Canada?

Your plan's data limits apply when you travel to Mexico and Canada, just like they do in the U.S. If you use 22GB of data, your speeds may slow when the network is particularly busy

Why are my network speeds slowed to 2G when I’m in Mexico?

When your network speed is slowed, it usually indicates that the network you’re connected to doesn’t have 3G capabilities. AT&T contracts with carriers and providers in Mexico to provide coverage to our customers, but not all carriers provide the same speeds. This can vary based on location.

How do I make in-country calls with my AT&T phone while I’m in Mexico?

If you are dialing a Mexican phone number, dial +52 (Mexico’s country code), then 1, followed by the area code and phone number. If your phone’s keypad does not show a + sign, press and hold the 0 key until the + sign appears.

If I’m in Mexico, how do I place calls to U.S. numbers?

To dial a U.S. number from Mexico, you would simply need to dial +1 and the 10-digit number.

Are there any differences between Mexico and USA service?

While 5G service is available in the USA, it is not available in Mexico. You may experience difference in coverage and signal quality. Your AT&T Mobile Security and AT&T Call Protect apps will work with the exception of VPN functionality when using Android devices.

Which Latin American countries are included with this feature?

Unlimited talk, text, and high-speed data are available when traveling in Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela. These are in addition to Mexico and Canada, which are already included with AT&T Premium 2.0 and AT&T Elite 2.0 plans.

What Latin American countries are excluded in this feature?

Cuba, French Guyana, and the rest of the Caribbean are not included.

You can use your same phone and SIM card without needing to switch anything! Your phone just works in any of the 20+ Latin American countries.

I have AT&T Premium 2.0 or AT&T Elite 2.0, but international roaming is blocked. Can I still use the unlimited talk, text, and high-speed data feature in Latin America?

If international roaming is blocked, call Customer Care at 800.331.0500 or visit a retail store to remove the roaming restriction. Once it’s removed, your AT&T Premium 2.0 or AT&T Elite 2.0 plan will include unlimited talk, text, and high-speed data in Latin America again at no additional cost.
