How to set up SplitPay on your AT&T account | AT&T

AT&T WirelessSM

How to set up SplitPay on your AT&T account

If you are an AT&T account holder with AT&T Unlimited Your Way®, or if you are part of someone’s shared wireless plan, getting paid by line-level users or paying your monthly AT&T bill just got easier with AT&T SplitPay1.

What is AT&T SplitPay?

AT&T SplitPay allows eligible customers to split your AT&T Wireless bill with multiple people on your account. AT&T recently introduced SplitPay1 with Unlimited Your Way*, so you can pay your wireless bill with family, friends, roommates, whomever – effortlessly.

How does AT&T SplitPay work for account owners?

If you are the account owner of a shared AT&T Wireless account, you may have found it cumbersome to get paid by everyone on your plan each month. Chances are you have been leveraging third-party payment solutions, like Venmo or bill pay through your bank, to collect payments from each person on your plan.

For eligible account owners, AT&T SplitPay1 is designed to simplify payment for your shared wireless expenses by splitting the bill for everyone on your plan. As the primary wireless account owner, if you choose to enable SplitPay, this is how it will work:

  • You can set up split billing for anyone you wish to collect payment from on your account. To set this up, sign in to your AT&T account, navigate to the Billing Center, then to the Introducing SplitPay section, and select Get Started. The great thing is you can group lines together, including lines for tablets and smartwatches.
  • The line-level user will be notified when a payment is due via SMS from AT&T and directed to the payment flow.
  • You will be notified when a payment has been made.
  • You can check the payment status at any time by navigating to the Manage SplitPay screen on the myAT&T app and clicking Check payment status.

One thing to note is SplitPay is available for select postpaid wireless plans only. It is not available for customers enrolled in AutoPay with a credit card. AT&T customers can easily manage their account with the myAT&T app.

myAT&T

Quick. Easy. Convenient.

With the myAT&T app, you can shop, upgrade, pay your bill, and get support anytime. It’s everything you need, right at your fingertips.

How does AT&T SplitPay work for line-level users?

If you are a line-level user on an AT&T Wireless account, and the account owner sets up SplitPay on his/her account, here’s what you can expect:

  • Once a month, before the account owner’s bill is due, you will receive an SMS from AT&T.
  • The SMS will take you to the payment flow, where you will see the amount you owe.
  • You can send a payment via Apple Pay, your credit or debit card or through your bank account.
  • Once your payment is complete, the primary account owner will be notified via SMS that a payment has been made.

Does AT&T offer a grace period for payments?

There is no grace period for paying your monthly AT&T bill. If you enable SplitPay, your bill is still due on the due date, regardless of who is paying. Ultimately, the account holder is responsible for making sure the entire bill is paid. If the bill does not get paid, all lines will be in jeopardy of suspension, and the account owner may incur a late fee.
