How much data is included with AT&T Fiber plans?

All internet plans with AT&T Fiber include unlimited internet data allowance for your home internet connection. Since there’s no data cap with AT&T Fiber, you won’t have to worry about paying overage fees.

Can I install my own AT&T Internet?

Self-installation of AT&T Internet service is possible, but there are a few requirements that must be met. For more information, please see this guide on setting up your own home internet . If self-setup is not possible where you live, or you would prefer that a professional install your equipment, one of AT&T’s experienced installation technicians will help get you up and running for an additional charge.

What do internet speeds really mean?

When choosing between AT&T Fiber vs. Spectrum Internet, internet speed may be a big factor in your decision. Internet speeds are usually measured in Megabits per second (Mbps) or Gigabits per second (Gbps/GIG). A higher Mbps rating means faster online activity and a larger number of devices that can connect to the internet at the same time. A Megabit is 1,000,000 bits (the smallest measurement of data in a computer). A Gigabit is 1,000 Megabits. In terms of Megabytes, 1 byte is 8 bits, which means that a fiber connection of 1Gbps is equivalent to 125 MB/s (Megabytes per second).

Many factors are considered when timing the deployment of fiber infrastructure, including, but not limited to, resources, local permitting, and even community and environmental factors. We are constantly evaluating new cities to add to the AT&T Fiber footprint. Sometimes when checking availability, you may find that you do not have AT&T service available at your address despite AT&T being available nearby. The AT&T Wi-Fi Gateway device functions as both a modem and a router and is required for AT&T Fiber.

While it is possible to connect your own router, using the AT&T Wi-Fi Gateway is recommended for the best experience. The latest Wi-Fi 6 gateway delivers the fastest and most reliable connectivity throughout your home, using the Wi-Fi 6 protocol.*

When adding your own router or Wi-Fi equipment to the AT&T Gateway, you should check with the equipment manufacturer to confirm compatibility. Some routers or Wi-Fi equipment may not be capable of supporting all the features offered by AT&T Fiber and the AT&T Gateway.

*Optimal performance requires Wi-Fi 6 enabled devices. Whole-home Wi-Fi connectivity may require AT&T Smart Wi-Fi Extender(s), which are sold separately.
