To update the software

1. Make sure your device is sufficiently charged and connected to Wi-Fi.
   
2. Press the Home button.
   
3. Tap Settings > Device > Install System updates > Check Now.
   
4. Follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update.
   
5. The device automatically restarts once the new software successfully installs.
   

To verify the update

1. Press the Home button.
   
2. Tap Settings > Device > Get info about your Fire.
   
3. The device has the latest software if the Software version, Baseband version, and Build number match the current update details.
