Getting started
- You can download the update via Firmware Over the Air (FOTA).
- You must connect your device to Wi-Fi® or a cellular connection to download the update.
- Downloading via cellular network will impact your data bucket and may result in additional charges.
- Install the latest Samsung Gear software version before updating your Samsung Galaxy Watch software.
- Visit the Galaxy Apps store (Samsung smartphones only) or the Google Play store (all Android devices).
- Download and install the latest Samsung Gear application update.
Update & verify software
Update software
- On your smartphone, if using Wi-Fi, connect your phone to a Wi-Fi network. Otherwise, it will use your data bucket.
- In the Samsung Gear app, ensure you are paired with your Galaxy Watch via Bluetooth.
- On your smartphone, open the Samsung Gear app.
- Tap SETTINGS.
- Tap About Gear.
- Tap Update Gear Software.
- Tap Download update manually.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- A notification message appears when the update successfully completes.
Verify software update
- From the Galaxy Watch clock screen, select the Power/Home button.
- Rotate the bezel to and select Settings.
- Rotate the bezel to and select Gear Info.
- Rotate the bezel to and select Software version. If the Android and Baseband versions don’t match the current update, perform additional updates until they do.
Troubleshoot software update
- Visit Troubleshoot & Resolve to fix software update issues.
- After installing the software update, visit Troubleshoot & Resolve to fix any additional issues with your device or services.
