Once you have reached upgrade eligibility, you can trade in your eligible financed smartphone (or one of the same make and model) in fully functional & good physical working condition.
Select the Upgrade option on the line you’d like to upgrade and complete the purchase. You’ll be mailed an envelope for you to return your current device. You can also return your device and make a new purchase in a retail store.
If you are out of contract, you can also trade in your device for up to $150 to spend on accessories, tablets, and even your AT&T bill.1

When upgrading with any AT&T Next® or AT&T Next Every YearSM installment plan, the following will be due at the time of upgrade purchase:
If you select the option to Pay to Upgrade or Pay Off the installment agreement, the applicable balance due on your old device is required. If service is canceled, balance on new device is due.
A one-time upgrade fee of up to $45/line may be added to your next bill.
