Getting started

  1. You can download the update via Firmware Over the Air (FOTA). 
  2. You must connect your device to Wi-Fi or a cellular connection to download the update.
  3. Install the latest Samsung Gear software version before updating your Samsung Gear S2 software.
  4. Visit the Galaxy Apps store (Samsung smartphones only) or the Google Play store (all Android devices).
  5. Download and install Samsung Gear 2.2.16022241 or newer.

Update & verify software

To update the software
  1. On your smartphone, if using Wi-Fi, connect your phone to a Wi-Fi network. Otherwise, it will use your data bucket.
  2. In the Samsung Gear app, ensure you are paired with your wearable device via Bluetooth.
  3. On your smartphone, tap Gear name > Software update > Update now.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update.
  5. A notification message appears when the update successfully completes.

To verify the update
  1. From the wearable device, go to Settings > Select Gear Info > About Gear.
  2. Your device has the latest software if the Software version matches the current update details.
